Moving from Rupa to Fullscript: Lab ordering access and the authorization network
Providers
We’re aligning Fullscript’s lab ordering access with Rupa’s model to help minimize any disruption as you transition to Fullscript.
This article answers key questions about labs ordering access and the authorization network—previously known as Physician Services on Rupa.
Signing practitioners
On Fullscript, you can assign a signing practitioner from your team to authorize lab orders on behalf of your practice.
After registering for labs, account owners with limited ordering access can still recommend testing through their signing practitioner. A signing practitioner can give you the flexibility to choose your preferred workflow for each lab order.

The authorization network
The authorization network helps practitioners with limited ordering access offer lab testing while staying connected to their clients care. Providers with limited access, who don’t have a signing practitioner with greater access, can opt in to the authorization network to recommend tests. These recommendations will be reviewed and ordered by a licensed clinician.
The authorization network functions like Rupa’s Physician Services: every order is reviewed and overseen by a licensed clinician so you can recommend testing while remaining within your scope.
Practitioners using the authorization network can choose tests from a curated list. Not all tests are available to recommend through the authorization network.
Using the authorization network
A $12.50 authorization network fee applies to each test or panel. This fee is typically paid by the patient for each test, but you can choose to cover it yourself and bill the patient separately if you prefer. The billing method is set for each individual plan that includes testing.
