Overview
You may want to remove practitioner and staff member accounts from your dispensary that are no longer affiliated with your clinic or business. Staff accounts can't be deactivated by dispensary owners or administrative staff at this time. To request the deactivation of a practitioner or staff member in your dispensary, please reach out to our Customer Success team.
Deactivated users are unable to:
- View treatment plan history
- Write new treatment plans
- View patient data
- Access reporting
- Place wholesale orders
Note: Deactivation requests must come from the dispensary owner or the practitioner/staff account owner. If a user needs access to any of the activities above, the account can't be deactivated.
Deactivation process
Once your dispensary has been authenticated and the account to be deactivated is located, our team will force the account into a deactivated state to block access to the dispensary. However, deactivated accounts will still appear on your Staff settings page. To help differentiate deactivated accounts from active practitioners, the account's name can be edited to include deactivated, changed to the dispensary name, follow another format altogether, or left as is. Whatever your preference, know that the name will continue to be shown to patients on any active prescriptions sent by the deactivated practitioner.

Patient considerations when deactivating a practitioner account
Patients of a deactivated practitioner account will still have full access to the Fullscript dispensary, including treatment plans made by the practitioner and the catalog, if available to them. To avoid confusion when viewing treatment plans that show the now deactivated practitioner's name on them, we recommend updating the name to reflect the dispensary name.
Reassigning patients to another practitioner
If global patient access is turned on, no patients need to be reassigned as all practitioners can write prescriptions for all patients in the dispensary.
If global patient access is turned off, only the dispensary owner and clerk(s) have access to all patients and assignment capabilities. If another practitioner is taking over patients of the deactivated practitioner, patient(s) need to be reassigned manually.
Removing reports access
Where an account deactivation isn't suitable or necessary, access to reporting can be restricted as a means of limiting the account's access to sales activity and other financial information.
To disable access to reporting:
- Open the practitioner menu by clicking your avatar in the top-right corner and select Dispensary settings. On mobile devices, select the menu icon ( ), then your avatar.
- Select the Permissions tab.
- Scroll down to the Report Access section to check if they have access. Uncheck any staff members that shouldn't have access to financial reporting.
- Click Save to submit your changes.
Note: Disabling report access doesn't impact the ability to write or view treatment plans.
